The Lotus School took an afternoon trip to Lost River Caverns in Hellertown, PA to tour the cave and learn about the local history of the site.
We enjoyed seeing the natural mineral formations inside the cave like stalactites, stalagmites, columns, rimstone, and flowstone.
Our guide’s grandfather purchased the land soon after the limestone cave was discovered by miners. Successive generations built a mineral and lapidary business, as well as a museum area comprised of geologic artifacts, hunting equipment and trophies, and other interesting artifacts.
Experiencing new places together as a unit ties us together with support and kindness. As we extend our scope beyond our school campus, our students find new ways to put the Lotus values into practice with each other and with those we meet along our journeys each day.
